Spectator Information

Spectators are an integral part of a great race atmosphere. Our runners will be tackling 26.2 or 13.1 miles, and having cheering fans, friends and family along the course helps make the experience truly memorable. We ask that you and your spectators please review the information below to help us create a safe, smooth and enjoyable Amica Newport Marathon & Half Marathon for everyone.

Track Your Runners

The race features live runner tracking and split times, made possible by our friends at Run Newport, the presenting sponsor of Runner Tracking and the Onsite Expo. Spectators can use live tracking to follow your progress and time their cheering stops at locations on the course.

Spectator Parking & Shuttle Info

Spectators are welcome to use the designated runner parking lots and shuttles, which will run continuously throughout the day, starting at 5:00 AM. To help runners get to the start line on time, we ask that spectators allow runners to board first, particularly before the 7:30 a.m. start, and wait until the last runners have departed the lots whenever possible.

For the easiest race-day experience, spectators may also want to consider parking elsewhere in Newport and Middletown and walking to the start/finish area. This can help keep the shuttles available for runners while avoiding potential wait times.

Stay Off the Dunes

Our course passes through fragile natural spaces, from oceanfront dunes to grassy wetlands. Please stay on designated paths, keep off the dunes and vegetation, and use the appropriate waste-sorting stations. At Easton’s Beach, please stay off the dunes when cheering at the start and finish.

Where To View the Race

Race-day road closures and delays can make getting around by car challenging. Please plan ahead and, when possible, avoid driving on or across the race course. A few options to consider on race day are below:

Easton’s Beach – Start & Finish

The start and finish area for both the half marathon and marathon is a great spot to watch the race. Spectators can park in the designated lots and take the shuttles to the beach. After watching the start, enjoy the beach and views of Newport and Middletown while waiting for your runner to return. For marathon spectators, Easton’s Beach is also the halfway point, with the Cliff Walk just a short walk up the hill—a great option for exploring while you wait. Please note: There is no spectator parking at Easton’s Beach.

Bellevue Ave. – Miles 1 & 12

Just a short walk from the start/finish at Easton’s Beach, Memorial Boulevard offers a great view of runners charging up the hill at mile 0.5—and again as they return at mile 12.5. It’s also a convenient option for spectators staying downtown, with easy access from nearby side streets and no need to park at the designated race lots.

Brenton Point – Mile 6

One of the most beautiful spots on the course, with 270° ocean views and ample parking at the state park. However, this location is directly on the race course and can be difficult to access once the race is underway. Plan to arrive well ahead of the race, approach from the opposite direction of the race course, or consider biking to the park.

Surfer’s End – Miles 15 & 24

This rocky outcropping at Sachuest Point is a favorite local surfing spot and a great place to see marathon runners twice. Its proximity to the Second Beach parking area also makes it convenient for spectators needing to park, and/or using the race shuttles.
