Sorry. We do not have any tracking at this time. If running with a smart phone or watch, you can often share your location with friends and family as a workaround.

Is there an Early Start Option?2024-04-17T18:18:51+00:00

We now offer an early 6:30 AM start option for those concerned about meeting the course time limits. Please note that the course is not yet fully supported and secure at this time.

The course will be marked, but we ask that you are familiar with the route and stay on the sidewalks/side of the road. Aid station supplies will be available but may be in the process of being set up at the first few aid stations. Early starters are ineligible for age group and overall awards.

The YMCA of Newport County generously offers up their showers to all participants who present their race bib following the event.

Can I walk the course?2020-01-21T19:37:20+00:00

Yes, as long as you can maintain the course minimum pace. All participants must be able to finish in 6 hours for the marathon, and 3.5 hours for the half-marathon. This requires a pace of 16:01 per mile. for the half marathon, and 13:44 per mile for the marathon. Runners who do not meet the cutoffs will be asked to move to the sidewalk and/or escorted to the finish area in a vehicle, as determined by race officials.

Marathoners who do not reach the 13.1-mile mark by 3.5 hours will be redirected to the half marathon finish line. We appreciate your understanding and respect for the communities we impact and the volunteers who serve and make this event possible!

Can I be dropped off at the start line?2024-10-09T00:48:24+00:00

You can be dropped off near the race start up until 7:05 AM, at which point the eastbound lane of Memorial Blvd. will close. Please note that you will NOT be able to access the Easton’s Beach Parking lot and there is absolutely no standing. Drop off, and go.

Is there a place to leave my belongings at the race start?2020-01-21T19:36:22+00:00

Athletes wishing to drop off gear will be able to do so near the start/finish line at the Beach Pavilion at Easton’s Beach beginning at 6:00 AM on race morning. A designated drop off location will be set up and athletes will use the number they are given during registration to identify their gear bag. Athletes will need their own bag as they will not be provided by the event.

How do the race shirts fit?2020-01-21T19:35:22+00:00

All participants of both the full and half-marathon will receive a short sleeved wicking t-shirt at packet pick-up. Wicking shirts generally run smaller than standard cotton shirts. They will be available in unisex and women’s cuts. Please note that shirts are ordered weeks in advance of the event and that size quantities are based on what participants indicated when they registered. For this reason, we ask that you please pick-up the shirt size you registered for.

Can I use a hydration vest or carry a water bottle?2020-01-21T19:34:23+00:00

Yes! In fact, we encourage it and would be happy to refill it along the route at the aid stations.

Local craft brewery Ragged Island will be providing post-race beers for runners. Enjoy a cold one and celebrate your accomplishment inside our beer garden — the first one is on us! Additional beer will be available for purchase for you, and your family and friends. Remember to bring your ID — we’ll be checking them in order to enter the garden.

A variety of post-race food, water, and Gatorade will be available underneath the beach bathhouse building post-race. To ensure there’s enough snacks for all of our finishers, remember that the athlete food is for runners only.

Race results will be posted on our website and on our Facebook Page following the event. If you notice an issue or need a correction with your time? Click the red “corrections” button on the RaceWire results link to request a review from our timer.

The Amica Newport Marathon would be capped at 5,000 total participants.

We do not typically offer coupon discounts to this race. Be sure to register early for the lowest prices, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for other offers. You can also inquire with one of our partner charities about their fundraising efforts and complimentary bibs.

Water, Nuun, and restrooms will be available roughly every two miles, at miles 2.1, 3.7, 4.1, 6.1, 7.5, 9.0, 11.1, 13.2, 15.4, 17.3, 18.9, 20.6, 22.4, and 24.

Bananas, GU Energy gels, candy and medical stations will be offered at select marathon aid stations. Digital clocks will be placed every five miles. Please review the course map above to see the specific aid station offerings.

Yes. Rhode Island Road Runners will be providing individual pacers for the marathon and half marathon. Pacers will run;

1:37 Half / 3:15 Full — 7:26/per mile
1:45 Half / 3:30 Full — 8:00/per mile
1:52 Half / 3:45 Full — 8:34/per mile
2:00 Half / 4:00 Full — 9:09/per mile
2:15 Half 4:30 Full — 10:17/per mile
2:30 Half / 5:00 Full — 11:26/per mile
2:45 Half / 5:30 Full — 12:35/per mile

Is the Marathon a Boston Marathon Qualifier2020-01-21T19:17:35+00:00

Yes! Marathon finishers can use their net time for qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Net time is calculated when the individual runner crosses the leave the start line and finish line.

We do not allow the following on the course: unregistered runners, pets, baby joggers, strollers, any wheeled vehicles other than wheelchairs (In accordance with USATF guidelines, wheelchair athletes must wear helmets).

Yes. Headphones are permitted but we ask you to please be considerate and keep the volume low enough so that you remain aware of your surroundings, course marshals, volunteers, staff and fellow runners.

We welcome runners and walkers of all speeds. However, volunteers, on course-aid and roads can only be secured and staffed for a set amount of time.

All participants must be able to finish in 6 hours for the marathon, and 3.5 hours for the half-marathon. This requires a pace of 16:01 per mile. for the half marathon, and 13:44 per mile for the marathon. Runners who do not meet the cutoffs will be asked to move to the sidewalk and/or escorted to the finish area in a vehicle, as determined by race officials.

Because of our strict time limit, we encourage anyone with an estimated finish time close to 3.5 hours/6 hours for the half and full respectively to consider the early start option.

All participants must show a photo ID at pick-up. Participants may pick-up for friends and family, but must provide a copy of the ID or a photo of the ID on their phone for verification.

Race Policies

Registration Policies

Gray Matter Marketing is a small business dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle with charitably focused events that highlight the communities we are fortunate to call hosts cities.

We are not able to offer refunds. However we do offer any registered runners the opportunity to request a race credit for your full value. Detailed information below.

Refunds

Full refunds are allowed up to 30 days prior to the event.

Please email [email protected] to request a refund and include your name and the event name. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS made to requests after the 30 day prior deadline.

No requests will be granted after September 13th.

Deferrals

Deferrals to the next year’s race are allowed up to 30 days before the event.

Please email [email protected] to request a deferral. This will be available for you to register for the following year’s event. Instructions for using the deferral will be emailed to you.

Transfers

We do not allow transfers of registrations or bib swapping. No exceptions.

Extreme Weather Policy

The oceanside course is exposed to wind and the elements. Runners should monitor the weather leading up to race day and prepare accordingly.

Our events are held rain or shine. However, there is always the potential for extreme or severe weather conditions. Race organizers will do as much as we can to ensure the experience is as safe as possible. In the event of severe weather, the race may be delayed as race officials consult public safety officers. If there is more than a short delay, if conditions persist, or the forecast calls for extreme weather, race officials reserve the right to alter or cancel the race. We do not schedule “rain dates”. Any decision to cancel an event is done as an absolute last resort and is made collectively with local risk management, police, fire & rescue, and medical personnel as appropriate. In such situations, there will be NO REFUNDS as registrants accept any such risk of their entry fee when signing up.
